AP2 prize for Master thesis in Finance and Sustainability awarded to Hanna Kysela and Jennie Utterberg

“Bridging the financing gap for biodiversity in emerging and developing markets – a case study on Brazil”, written by the two students from the University of Gothenburg and affiliated to Mistra BIOPATH, shared their insights and work in Brazil in the first months of 2025.

The study has been acknowledged, among others by Mistra BIOPATH partner AP2, who awarded their thesis with the motivation:

“The thesis stands out by combining quantitative analysis with qualitative interviews and field studies to highlight the financing gap for biodiversity in developing countries, with Brazil as a case study. It demonstrates considerable academic maturity, methodological breadth and societal relevance. By identifying concrete obstacles and solutions for private investment in biodiversity, the work contributes insights that are directly applicable to both policy and practice.”

“We are happy and thankful for the AP2 thesis prize” said Jennie Utterberg at the award ceremony and spoke also on behalf of Hanna Kysela who attended online as she is currently working in Kairo.
