At the World Economic Forum 2023, WWF launched the BRF, a biodivesity risk filter. The tool helps companies and financial institutions to identify risks and take actions related to nature in their operations, value chains and holdings.

The risk filter is map-based and can be freely used by companies in all sectors and countries. For Swedish actors, the risk filter is currently most suitable for those with global value chains and portfolios. Using more than fifty global data sources, from actors such as WWF, IUCN, the World Bank and NASA, the tool can show the risks of a company or a financial portfolio from a nature and business perspective, adapted to industry and geographical conditions.

Over fifty global data sources cover information on species and ecosystems, protected areas and major drivers of biodiversity loss such as deforestation and pollution.

The BRF tool also supports the work of companies and financial actors within global frameworks such as the Taskforce on Nature-Related Disclosures (TNFD), Science Based Targets for Nature (SBTN) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
