ENCORE (Exploring Natural Capital Opportunities, Risks and Exposure) is a tool that helps users to better understand and visualise the impact of environmental change on the economy.

By focusing on the goods and services that nature provides to enable economic production, the tool helps users understand how businesses in all sectors of the economy potentially depend on and impact nature, and how these potential dependencies and impacts can pose a business risk (illustration above of Double Materiality).

The current ENCORE development phase to help financial institutions aims to answer the following questions:

Am I impacting biodiversity through my investment or lending portfolio?

Am I damaging or building the resilience of biodiversity with my investments?

Is my portfolio in line with global/regional biodiversity targets and to what extent?
